This rock is every geologist's dream: soap-shaped, polished stones (70x50x20 mm) of the beautiful and highly interesting garnet peridotite of Alpe Arami.
This rock is a metamorphic peridotite, originating at depths of about 100 kms (60 miles). It contains pyrope-rich red garnet and some bright green chromium diopside in a groundmass of granular olivine.
