This is one of the most beautiful and geologically intriguing Swiss rocks: Allalin Gabbro is a metamorphosed gabbro, the texture still well-preserved, the mineral content now typical of eclogite facies metamorphism: pyrope garnet, omphacite, jadeite and many more.
These soap shapes, a Siber+Siber exclusive, are 6.5-7 cms long, 4.7-5 cms wide and approx. 2 cms thick.
The Swiss also call thins stone "Smaragdite" ("Emeraldite"), alluding to the green color of the omphacite.
